Boda en España

Congratulations to my beautiful cousin, Zaida and her new husband Guille on their beautiful wedding and adorable relationship. I have no doubt they will live happily ever after!

Went down to Altea, Spain on Friday to attend their wedding. Intense but a fantastic weekend. Flew straight from London to Alicante with my brother D and M.

A quick change and touch up of make-up in the car and went straight to a bodega to meet all the family as well as the groom's side of the family. I love bodegas with lots of amazing tapas and great wine! I love Spanish food. Almost all the cousins came and it was so great to see everyone again. I haven't seen some of them for about 10 years. Crazy but so much fun!

Since we weren't really in the Spanish time yet, we headed home to sleep already at 1am. Saturday, we headed to the beach to enjoy the 35 degree heat and cool off in the 27 degree ocean. Then we enjoyed a fabulous lunch prepared by my uncle on my Grandma's balcony with all the family except for the bridals closest family who was already getting ready. After lunch it was our turn to start getting ready but damn! Try and look non-sweaty and gorgeous with a 35 degree humid heat! Especially when blow drying and curling your hair, which just added more heat! It was quite a stressful couple of hours and we stressed our way over to the church, which is the Swedish thing to do and be on time but we forgot that in Spain, everything is at least 30-45mins later. I even forgot my much-needed fan at home but luckily they gave them out as wedding favors in the church!! Best favor ever!!

The priest was however on Swedish time. He was a bit stressed since he had scheduled a mass to start 2 hours after our ceremony was supposed to start at another location and when our bride was 45 mins late, we had to do a short version of the ceremony.

When the bride walked in, I got tears in my eyes! She was so beautiful! Both her and her father walking down the aisle got tears as well. I heard her groom, waiting for her, whisper to his mother "Que guapa!". So cute! The ceremony was very individual and they had chosen everything in their own special way. They started off by having a speech to each other straight away.

It was quite interesting as well how her father and his mother were sitting next to them the whole ceremony. I isn't understand much though since the whole ceremony was in Spanish.

The reception and awesome party after the ceremony consisted of a cocktail, dinner and then dancing the rest of the night away. Great food, great people! We had the best table!

After getting home at 6 am, we missed the sailing trip the next day on one of our friends' beautiful catamaran so instead we spent the day passed out on the beach.

Ok, maybe more like this...

Joined most of the family tree for dinner on the catamaran that night but went home for an early night to leave Spain the next day.

This is also where I had to say goodbye to my brothers since I won't be seeing them before I leave to Australia for a year, which was quite tough. I wasn't really ready for it because I'm kind of used to seeing them a bit lately. Anyhoo, now off to my hometown (I think I can call it that) - Luxembourg!
