Friday night it was time for a "Surströmming" Party. Surströmming is a Swedish tradition, which you eat in August. It is a mouldy fish which is contained in a tin with yeast for a year. It smells so terribly bad! My grandpa was never allowed to eat it when my grandma was around because it smelled so bad. He had to go outside of the house to open the can and you have to open it about an hour before you eat it so that some of the smell goes away. My grandpa loves it but I thought it tasted just like it smelled. With every bite, I had to fill my whole mouth up with a strong schnapps (Swedish shot) to cover the taste. I was quite drunk by the end of the meal :).

Saturday's activities were spent fixing the backyard. My grandpa hard at work cutting the grass and my sexy cousin working her arms at cutting the hedges.

Saturday night was time for the next party. It is real happening in the country :). Every year for the past three years, our neighbour up the road who's dad is a farmer, has a "Kräftskiva" (Swedish traditional party with crayfish) in the barn. This was my first year going to the party and my cousin convinced me to dress up in a country theme so I wore my torn up jeans skirt, a white singlet and a plaid shirt over to try and fit into the country theme. My cousin went as the religious Peggy Sue from Texas. However when we got to the party, only we were in theme and everyone else had cute little summer dresses. Although, our costumes were not over the top but this made it almost more embarrassing since the others probably thought we actually dressed like that. Anyhow, we had a great time, from what I can remember! We had a lot of schnapps. We even ran out so I called my aunt who was down the road at grandpa's place to come bring us more. I usually always remember everything that happens the night of a party, however the next morning, my cousins had to remind me of a lot of things and flipping through the photos on the camera, I don't remember any of them being taken. Embarrassing!

Our awesome ride to the party - that's how we do it in the country :).
It was however a fantastic weekend and I had a great time with my two amazing cousins! I love my family!
