Bonus night in Stockholm

Was meant to start a tourist weekend on Friday night after picking up my "future mother in law" at the airport but unfortunately her flight got delayed 19 hours. Poor Pam! However, instead of sitting around waiting, I thought I would take advantage to explore the Stockholm nightlife a bit more. Called up some old friends, quick stop at H&M to get something to wear since I hadn't planned to go out and off I went. First stop was East, which I have always wanted to go to. Was meant to eat dinner there but after a snooze on the couch, time ran away and I only made it to quickly stuff my face with 4 chicken dumplings before leaving. Maybe not the best meal preparation before a night out.

We moved on to the special outdoor terass which is a part of Sturecompagniet, right in the smack middle of Stureplan, the so called snobby nightlife in Stockholm. However I was pleasantly surprised. I was with great people and there was a great atmosphere and smiles around. Of course there were few scuffles to get to the bar and to get the bartenders attention without caring if anyone else was there before you. I guess you have to expect that, especially in big cities, although it doesn't happen as often in Gothenburg or Australia ;).

After sipping on a few glasses of rose, a girl comes and sticks the tag down at the back of my dress. I politely say thank you and feel the back of my dress and realise that it was the actual pricetag still on from when I had bought it earlier that day. HOW EMBARRASSING! The girl must have thought I had left it on there to return it the next day or something. Haha! Like a white dress would make it through the night with no stains to return to H&M for less than 100kr. Anyway it gave me and my new found friend something to laugh about :). (not the girl that poked it down). This new girl I met, who I hopelessly can't remember the name of, was a sweetie. I thought she looked a bit shy at first but she was sweet, funny and an awesome dancer! I loved it! From my experience, lot of girls at the clubs around here either like to stand on the dancefloor and look pretty (why stand on the dancefloor and take up room. If you're nit going to shake your booty, stand at the bar.) or being very intoxicated, the dancing is just jumping up and down, so I loved how this girl could really dance!

Dancefloor at Cafe Opera, where we moved on to:

Other than her, our group of friends were mainly guys. But it was great. I got out my best matchmaking skills and started giving lessons how to pick up a girl - which I often believe I am an expert on after a few glasses of wine. Turns out I am better than I think I am. I did pick up a girl but not for my guy friend, but rather for myself! Don't get me wrong, she was beautiful with long dark brown hair and a bit of an exotic look. When leaving she asked "Do you have face?". My first thought was that she was saying something about my face but felt like an old fart when I realized that "face" is the new hip abbreviation for Facebook. People don't exchange numbers anymore but rather become Facebook friends, which exposes everything you used to learn about a person on a first date. What a developing world! Anyway I was very flattered and hopeful to get a new friend, only to soon leave Stockholm and even Sweden!

Met a lot of other great people and even ran into 2 different people from my high school who I haven't seen for 5 years!

Stumbled home at 3 am when the sun was either coming up again or still hadn't gone down since it looked like this outside.

On the way home I realized that I was right about how it is impossible to wear a white dress at the club without it getting ruined. Should I perhaps try and return it to H&M? Haha.

Thank you for a great night, Stockholm nightlife.

Now enjoying a fabulous breakfast out in the Stockholm sun, soon to pick up Pam and start the tourist weekend.
