The Good Life

Down in Spain at the moment in one of the most beautiful places in the world - Altea. My grandmother lives here and since she has hurt herself I am down here with Rhys taking care of her but there are definitely no complaints. It's been a nice 28-30 degrees but with a great cool breeze so it is not the uncomfortable, painful heat where you can't sleep at night. It is just perfect.

We spent pretty much the whole day at the beach today. I've got my 30 sunscreen on though and I'm already working up a nice tan. I am going to be here for two weeks so I do have some time to plan a perfect tan. We also took a walk around Altea today, I showed Rhys around a bit. I used to come to Altea every summer when I was younger but it hasn't been as frequent in the past 7 years but it is definitely not because I haven't wanted to. Altea is a beautiful old little town, which is still not ruined by tourists. It is a bit more touristy than when I was young with a few English and Dutch restaurants with the waiters speaking English to you straight away. (This is when I try to make a point by only speaking my rusty Spanish). Altea has a stone beach, which is one of the reasons why tourists have not invaded the area and the locals have decided to keep it this way. Yes, it does hurt when getting in the water but at least there aren't too many people around to see you fall over ;). There are sand beaches about 10mins away though.

Altea is perfect to get the nice peace and quiet but it also neighbours one of the most touristy and biggest party places in Spain - Benidorm. So if you want a change and want to party it up, it is just a 15 euro taxi ride away. This is where Josefin and I will be heading when she arrives on Saturday.

But for now there will be more of this...

What more could you want?
