So Benidorm is kind of this area's guilty pleasure. It is the total opposite to Altea, however only 10 minutes away. Everyone in Altea say they hate it and when people go there, they say that they are only going to remind themselves of how great Altea is. There are many skyscrapers and a lot of apartment buildings. It is quite a touristy area, especially a lot of british people. The british have even created their own area in Benidorm with only English pubs and English flags everywhere and only english speaking people. However I quite like to stay away from this area but I do enjoy going to the bigger clubs with spanish people.
Since Josefin arrived in Benidorm on Saturday and Spain was playing Paraguay in the quarter finals of the world cup, we decided to go to the sand beach in Benidorm during the day.

At night we went back to watch the game and then go out. We found a very spanish restaurant, which was decked out in Spanish gear. Every other person there had facepaint on including the waiters and Spain t-shirts and jerseys. As well as Spanish flags everywhere and large banners all over the place. It was a great place to join in the Spanish spirit since we were of course cheering for Spain.

For a game that only had one goal, it was quite the exciting game and everyone was very into the game. Casillas, my love from the European championship, did such a great job once again. We went with the spanish theme and ordered my favourite spanish dishes such as Jamon Serrano, Queso Manchego, Calamares A la Romana, Mussels made with vegetables, olives and of course Sangria.

All the tables were turned towards the big screen TVs and people were screaming, clapping, singing and when Spain finally scored and as well as when they won the game, fireworks went off. Spain love their football :).
After the game, we headed out in Benidorm. Every club have people standing outside the club offering free shots to try to get them into their club. Since I knew about this, we went to every club along the strip and got a free shots off them but we ended up at the oldest and one of the most popular clubs - Penelope - my favourite :).
Josefin and the half-naked dancer at Penelope ;).
Funny moments:
A boy of about 5 years of age got up on the podium, where the half-naked dancers dance, by himself and started dancing exactly like them. He didn't exactly dance to the beat but he stuck his butt out and waved his hands around. Adorable but I wonder what his parents thought of that. Also, later on after the half-naked men were on there, the little boy takes off his shirt and gets up to bust a move again. Hilarious!

A grandma/old mom took her granddaughter of about 5-6 years of age into the club to watch the half-naked girls dance on the podium and kept pointing to them like they were beautiful girls with a dream job, which the little girl should strive for. She also started to try and dance like them - even rubbed her body imitating the dancers. I'd like to see what she is up to in 20 years time.
There was a guy dressed up as a massive terminator walking around on stilts in the club, scaring heaps of people. They really go all out to try and entertain you, me gusta!
A few dances, a couple of drinks and many laughs later we headed home.
