I love going in to a film not having any expectations and not knowing anything about the film. And I was pleasantly surprised by this film. It tackles the theme of racism in Swedish, which I thought was great since Swedish people are very quiet, scared of conflicts and always neutral when it comes to big issues and they like to pretend that there are no problems around that need to be dealt with. However, racism is a big issue in Sweden since we do have a lot of immigrants and people with different races and from different cultures so it was great to finally see this publicly and in a large medium. The film reminded me a bit of Paul Haggis' film Crash by following separate people's day-to-day lives and then be united in some way or another, as well as having racism as the main reoccurring theme. However this film does have it's own character and it is different since it has to do with racism in Sweden, which so far is a pretty unspoken, low-key and unexpected issue. Since I am a fan of movies with social issues being a theme, I'd recommend this film. It was also interesting how half the film was in English and half in Swedish. A thumbs up to För Kärleken.
