I have now completed a full week in Adelaide. The main thing I can tell you is that it is COLD!! It has poured down rain for about 5 out of the past 7 days and then I mean POURED as in storms, floods, power out, traffic lights not working, trees and signs fallen down onto streets and traffic. The earth is mad! Also Australia are terrible at building isolated houses! Whatever the temperature is outside, it is exactly the same inside, sometimes even colder because the inside doesn't get warmed up by the sun. I don't understand how people aren't crazy cold! I'm in the house with the heater on and wearing leggings with a pair of thick trackpants over, socks, slippers, singlet, t-shirt, cardigan and big hoodie and I'm still cold. Australian winters are much worse than Swedish winters due to the insides being so cold. Our front door even has a major gap at the bottom so cold air just flows in. They are definitely behind in the isolation and heating area.

Another point I'm not too fond of is that people I speak to in shops and such, always call me "darling", "honey", "love" and I even got a "lovey" from the bank. It's either women or gay men that do this and I find it a little bit uncomfortable. I sometimes throw out the occasional "hun" or "babe" to my friends but not to someone you don't know. I am sure that they are probably doing it to try and be friendly but I feel like it is a little bit degrading or demeaning and overstepping a bit of a boundary. I love it when people are really friendly and open the first time I meet them but I am not a big fan of the name-calling.
